We visited the department for surgery at Sahlgrenska on thursday the 16th February.
The architectural companies WHITE and Tengbom have collaborated to create New Karolinska, Solna. Christine Hammarling from Tengbom welcomed us in their office at Katarina vägen, and was kind enough to present the project to us. In the afternoon we traveled to Solna and went to see the ongoing exibition of New Karolinska ”a world leading university hospital”, Solna 14/02- 2012
Uppsala Akademiska Sjukhuset
In the afternoon we traveled to Uppsala together with Shadi and Danuta.
As we understand it, the hospital is in need of renovation and re-organization. The department that we were asked to consider are: the maternity wards and the children’s hospital. Christina Arnbloom was kind enough to arrange tours of both departments and meeting with the staff where they had the opportunity to explain their thoughts and feeling about the current situation. The overall layout of the different maternity wards are ok(but of course there are things that need to be improved). Good Entrance/ waiting areas. The staff areas are to small and separated. There are 13 patient rooms per ward.
Some rooms in the “Normal delivery ward” have recently been renovated. These rooms are single patient rooms but lack personal bathroom and wc. Generally they are of generous size, well equipped and in good condition.
At karolinska vi got a tour of two ”new” ) departments; (renovated 2010)
NeoNatal & IVA- designed by our Professor Peter Fröst.
